Packing part 2
I didn't actually pack much after I wrote my first entry about packing. But I did start on Friday night and I started by putting all the supplies I bought in the suitcase. All 8 shower gels, 6 toothpastes, 5 shampoos & conditioners, etc - then I weighed it. I'm only allowed 44lbs (20kg) of checked baggage, but I can go up to 32kg and pay for the overweight.
That's neat. Because I'm totally going to need it.
After the supplies was put in and I popped the very light suitcase on the scale, the reading said...
44lbs!! I saw that and I think I swore out loud in front of Sisy, (sorry Sisy!), and now it's time to rethink what I'm going to bring. Again. All this rethinking makes me not want to pack. And I think Sisy noticed that. Because she went and cleaned my room really nice, so neat and all vaccuumed, in the hopes of encouraging me. But man, it's so nice in here, I don't want to mess it up! :D
4 days left of work...
which is totally awesome. I'm effectively unemployed as of April 21, 2006. To quit a job with no other job lined up is somewhat exhilarating. Yes yes, I'm going to another country and will get a job there, hopefully, but for 8 days I'll be an unemployed Canadian. After that I'll be an unemployed Canadian in England. Neat!
This past week was spent training the "new guy". It's not fun at all. I always have to talk, to teach, to try and not get testy. Teachers, in my book, have a hard job, it's not easy having people listen to every word you say for the purpose of imparting knowledge - and in my case it's only one guy. He keeps asking me "who's the expert besides you in the office" and I keep telling him "you are now" and then he makes this anxious sigh. In small offices there isn't a lot of overlap of roles...but oh well, I tell myself 4 days 4 days 4 days and I'm free.
Packing!
This week I plan to begin packing my stuff in my bright pink suitcase. I've been procrastinating long enough but I'm very close to having everything I want ready to bring with me. Flying with Zoom allows me 20kg of check-in baggage - which isn't a lot. So I'll be going overweight and paying the extra charge - so that's not an issue - my concern now is whether or not I can fit everything I want to take in my suitcase. Packing can be fun and tedious; it's a lesson in organization and strategic placement. I find rolling up clothing the best way to save on space. There, that's my tip for the day.
